Strategic Thinking and TOWS

APICS Tampa Bay would like to invite our members and their colleagues to attend our Professional Development Meeting from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 8.

Our guest speaker is Mr. Craig Williams. He will be presenting on the topic of strategic thinking and TOWS.

Effective change management requires strategic planning to identify the market vision and path to the desired future state.  Operations tactical decision-making and actions drive the enterprise from the current status to meet this future state.  At least they’re supposed to.  How well this happens is directly influenced by your enterprise’s strategic planning talent, policies and procedures.

“Strategic Thinking and TOWS” is presentation covering two related concepts: a review of effective strategic thinking and planning practices and an interactive presentation on TOWS, an updated, advanced version of SWOT.

TOWS takes SWOT and upgrades it to provide a more structured, time-phased and prioritized approach, adding strategic-to-tactical planning linkages.  Using TOWS effectively “pulls” your operations tactical planning and decision-making towards your identified future market state.

This interactive presentation will have a live, group TOWS exercise to model the process.  The principles discussed should be applicable with almost all enterprise activities.

Craig Williams is currently the Supply Chain Supervisor for Attwood Marine, a premier supplier of marine products and accessories.  Prior to his current role, Craig has twenty-plus years experience in materials planning and procurement management  in a variety of high-tech manufacturing operations, including space, military and commercial avionics products with Honeywell Space and Strategic Systems and Smiths (GE) Aerospace, concentrated beverage products with Coca-Cola Minute Maid and high-speed diesel engine powertrain products with Yanmar America.

Craig is active in APICS, the association for Supply Chain and Operations Management professionals, and is APICS CPIM certified.  Craig served on the APICS Southeast District Staff, has previously held local chapter officer roles (Programs, EVP and President), and has been an APICS CPIM instructor.

Craig graduated with a BSBA in Business Management from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.  He lives with his wife and family in Clearwater, Florida.

The Power of Your Resume

Dates: October 23, 24, & 25
Investment: Free!

A powerful RÉSUMÉ gets the interview; the INTERVIEW gets the JOB.

Most hiring managers today look for an achievement-based résumé – what you can do for a company. Deluged with more résumés than ever before, they will spend five seconds or less deciding whether to read further.

Why would a hiring manager NOT look at your résumé? You’ve broken one of the rules. Don’t make resume mistakes you can avoid!

During this 75 minute webinar, you will learn about the positives and negatives of résumés, including:
• Overall appearance
• Layout effectiveness
• Completeness and presentation of header information
• Clarity and support of objective
• Education & experience documentation and organization
You will learn how to use the Power of Your Resume to get the interview, and so much more!

The Power of Your Resume webinar is FREE and takes place at 8:30 AM, 12:00 PM, & 9:00 PM on October 23, 24, & 25.

Your résumé is a sales document designed to get you the interview. Don’t let your job or lack of a job define who you are.
